The Ant of the Self Most seventh graders know the principle that oil and water don’t mix. No matter how much the solution is shaken or stirred, the water will settle to the bottom and the oil will rise above to the surface. These attributes describing water and oil directly describe the relationship between Spurgeon and Ray, the two main characters in ZZ Packer’s â€Å"The Ant of the Self.† Spurgeon, the â€Å"water† and intelligent son of Ray Bivens Jr., finds himself carrying the burden of supporting his self-centered, inappreciative father, the â€Å"oil,† on his shoulders. Oblivious to his son’s needs as well as others in the story, Ray tramples over the true meaning of an intimate relationship and worsens or even crumbles his existing ones.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  When thinking about a father and son relationship, one would imagine love, respect, and support, however, in terms of Spurgeon and Ray’s relationship, it can be described as a business transaction. Spurgeon supports his father throughout the story although he knows his father’s misleading ways. On the other hand, Spurgeon does not get any recognition from his father for being there. For example, at the beginning of the story, Spurgeon bails his father out of jail with his money he earned from debate. Instead of thanking him and showing his appreciation, Ray says, â€Å"Opportunities. You’ve got to invest your money if you want opportunities† (72). Ray already thinks about fast ways of making money and during the car ride,...

It comes with a variety of questions regarding personal information, favorites, ambition, and a lot more. On the 24th day of February was the Sibley day of Lindenwood University. Events were all over the place but I decided to participate in just three of the events. One of which I attended took place at Roemer 209 at 1pm and it was a movie titled: â€Å"Milk†. There were about 30 people who came to watch the movie including and that was just right for the class room that was used was rather small. The head of the organization that hosted the event presented the theme of the movie as well as the plot. He relayed to us the message of social unity and upholding of social integrity. The scenario expose the need to legalize free choice of sexuality and to bring about rights to homosexuals in the U.S.A. Harvey, the chosen one, decides that something must be done. So then he encourages other homosexuals around the city to be bold and proud of their sexuality. With his camera shop as a symbolic home for oppressed homosexuals, Harvey establishes a sense of independence and the right of freedom of sexual orientation in the hearts of the gay people. Latter in the movie, the police start to notice the boldness of the gay people. They attack a gay bar and beat up the so called social rejects. Milk felt strong about the social conflict and decided to run for the post of City Supervisor, being his first step toward the campaign to legalize homosexuality. He is latter threatened with death through an anonymous letter, and sees this as the motivation he needs to pursue his campaign objective. Running for political office needs persuasion of the public. A typical purpose a nurse might have would be to provide health and safety to the community in order to keep a community alive. On the other hand a purpose for an educator would be to educate the community of the importance of a health and safety so they are aware of the seriousness of the matter. The communication can be implemented through the connectionless protocol and this is a big advantage in this communication process (Kramer 2014). There are certain disadvantages also like the unpredictable response time, the time is actually not known by the sender so this is a big problem for the urgent situation. This is also more complex situation and the entire communication mostly depended on the connection-oriented protocol. Recommendation of those communication tools and the development of working condition In case of the synchronous tools conferencing system is the major tool where the communication process can take place. Video or web conferencing is another process that can be implemented in that situation. Software, hardware, and bandwidth all these are an essential tool for this communication process (Derks et al. 2015). Sometimes verbal interaction is enough for the development of the working condition.
